new daily count system ~~

Bad (-1 point for each) :
  • Bad news about trip in China (my bf told me that the trip is canceled because of some schedule problems. :( So, I will stay only in Shanghai with my family.)
  • Got a speed limit violation ticket. $40 of fine! grrrrrrrr.........
Good (1 point for each):
  • No trip within China which means I'll spend more time with my family and more time to work.
  • Dinner was great. And I had a good ME moment reading RealSimple and my favorite dessert.
Sum: 0
I'll adopt this simple daily calculation of good and bad moments of the day. I think this helps me to have an overview of my day and not focus only on bad things. Although when I received those bad news, I was sad, but looking my day overall, it wasn't that bad. I'll definitely keep doing this. I think mi had something similar on her blog.

I worked hard today, almost 9 hours long which made me to have a terrible headache, but I'm glad that I did it. I want to have as much as possible done with work before I leave, so I can enjoy more time with my family in China. (although the probability of having to work there is very high).

Okay. Eats. Breakfast at 6.30am
  • 1/2 cup multigrain
  • 1/2 cup almond breeze
  • 1 large chopped apple
  • 1 tbsp flax meal
  • vanilla + cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup fage
I've never had yogurt as topping...... it's delicious!!! It add extra creaminess!
Moring snack was two lindts. Chocolates are great to deal with research related stress. ^_^Lunch was last leftover bamboo chicken, sauteed romaine lettuce and rice. I packed two packets of BB for afternoon snack since I went to school this afternoon.Back home around 6.30 I was starving but really tired. I was struggling whether to cook dinner or just grab something quick. I decided to prepare a quick but delish meal to reward myself of a long day of work. I made a veggie-risotto-stirfry
  • 2 cup cooked barley
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • 1.5 cup mushroom
  • 2 cup broccoli
  • 1/3 cup chopped green onions
  • S+P
  • 1 packet Goya seasoning
Stir-fry barley with green onions, add veggies and seasoning. Really easy! The key was to stir constantly so all the extra liquid is evaporated.
I also made a seaweed, tomato, egg and sesame oil soup.
mmmmmmmm...............yum yum~~ I enjoyed so much. It was so good that added a point to Good thing of my day.
After dinner, I had my favorite dessert: frozen strawberries with fage, a peppermint tea and the new issue of Real Simple. I like this issue more than the previous one, specially the section of What's in your Not-to-do list for the next year?

Thanks everyone for my party-meal suggestions. Up to now, I have planned to do the followings: hummus with veggies, another bean dip, chipas, choco-nuts petit fours, casserole, apple crisp. I don't think these will be enough for 15 people, so, please more suggestions. And does anyone have good recipes for apple crisp and casserole?

Oh no about the trip! But the dessert is definitely worth at least one positive :)

I thought of another appetizer for you - shrimp cocktail! My family always has that at Christmas.

hey, what do you do for a living? it seems like work is your life!!! i would get so stressed out if i worked such long days.

your calculation system is neat. i do the same kind of thing when i need to balance my priorities. it's called the importance scale and it usually get's the job done.

I agree with Veggie Girl - focus on the good things, your glass is always half full that way!

Interesting soup combo!

That point system is a good idea. I bet if you thought hard enough every day would atleast even out, if not end up with positive points
