back to earth!~~ it's hard but not so much with so many surprises!

I'm back to US, to life, to earth (since I felt I was in heaven during last 6 weeks in China with my family and bf).
I still have more pics of chinese eats but let me postpone those and first catch up with 3 surprises that I got when I came back.
first: The Peanut & Co. lovely monkey from a lovely lady Tiffany. She sent me a big package of their PB back in December and I guess they forgot to send me the monkey. :D This is so cute and those jars of PB, mmmmmmmm........ gorgeous!

second: Foodbuzz people are so cool!!! They sent me personal card for my blog!!! Look these, each one of them have different pic!!!! I love love love the little card, it's soooooooo cute!!! Thanks so much Foodbuzz!

third: I joined the tastemaker program from Foodbuzz and got samples for the new True Delight granola bar of Quaker. The packaging puts me in mind of a premium chocolate bar, which I think is very much what they were going for. I received three different varieties...Honey Roasted Cashew Mixed Berry, Dark Chocolate Raspberry Almond, and Toasted Coconut Banana Macadamia Nut. I tried the Coconut's one. Without the chocolate or the dried fruits, I wasn't expecting to like this one much. However, it turned out to taste great! It was less sweet than conventional quaker bars and that totally worked in it's favor. I'd eat this one again!

yesterday I spent my day unpacking, paying bills, cleaning my room and some other stuffs. I woke up 5am (arrive 11pm the day before). I was happy that I don't have jetlag this time, although I did feel tired and asleep during the day. The long trip (18 hours) isn't fun at all.
okay. let's move on what I had yesterday.
for breakfast I had 1/2 cup oats cooked with enough water to make a podridge. I had it with a special pickle made by my bf's mother. It's salty, chewy and spicy. Can you guess what is made from?look my new hello kitty's bowl I got in China. And also the spoon. (you'll see more kitty's stuffs, I just love it!)And I also had a cup of powdered soy milk in the new hk mug and hk spoon!
AM snack: Quaker's Toasted Coconut Banana Macadamia Nut.

Lunch: noodles with pok choy and dry shrimps! it's my new comfort food because it reminds my mom (she cooked it several times for me during my stay in China) and also because it's sooooo delicious! It was a huge bowl, I used 4 oz. of fresh noodles! yeah~~ so filling! :D
PM snack: 1/2 cup fiberone with yogurt in the little hk cup.the cuttest spoon ever! ^_^
I haven't work out for a week and felt needing one. So I did the power flow vinyasa #4.
dinner: sauteed romaine with mushrooms, sauteed shitake, black fungus with tofu and rice.
First day back was tough for me, I missed terribly my family!!! Well, that's life, right? I need to adjust my mind to get back to work soon!

oh.... I almost forget about one important announcement. I've been reading a lot about chinese medicines. I've learned a lot about how food affects us and help us to be healthy. I'll try to share it with you guys. Hope you can learn something different about food&health from chinese culture. What are your health concerns? and what interests you most about chinese medicines?

omgosh i totally miss you! i'm so glad you're back home, but yet my heart aches for you since you miss your family so much! i know how you feel.. :)

and as for chinese medication, my mom is always telling me to eat a certain type of food or drink a certain type of drink during times. she'll ask me to eat ginger, as she says that vegetarians are a little too "cold." i can't explain what she means by "cold," but i always whine about how i don't like ginger, so she has to bust out the sushi ginger hehehe.

i know that you're supposed to drink mung bean soup and eat mung beans in the summer (cause they're cooling) and eat red adzuki beans in the winter (since they're warming and promote blood flow).

how about you? has your mom made you do any of such things?

Pearl: your mom is so right! You should keep your blood warm during winter time. I'll explain more about it later.
My mom doesn't know anything about that, instead I'm the one telling my parents what to eat, hahhaha!!!
And Pearl, what's your email address so I can write you.

Yay it's fabulous to have you back again! :) Your hello kitty goods are so cute!

I totally believe in Traditional Chinese medicine (I studied it all summer) and my mom is a HUGE follower. :) I can't say i'm good with it though. I do drink ginger tea whenever it's that time of the month, and I buy dried dates to put in my tea as well as "xi yang ren shen" to give me more energy. I just....never remember where I put these ingredients after I buy them! :)

welcome back :) as for Chinese medicine - I'm very interested in most Eastern medicine. Ayurveda (Indian) is especially cool. I think that the the Western world (US, Europe) we tend to treat these very specific problems without looking at what's causing them (which could be diet, lifestyle, stress, etc.), and the "cures" don't work. In Eastern medicine, they treat the root cause and they find out what is really making you sick, and then they help that so that your body can heal itself. Just my 2 cents :)

Welcome back, coco!

Happy chinese new year. Feb 9 will be the last day of celebrations. Do you eat yu sheng? It's commonly eaten during CNY in my country.

Yummy eats as usual. :)
