Consciousness of a shopaholic!!!

Yes, I'm officially a shopaholic, a special one: Groceries-shopaholic!!! I have high level of self control on many aspects of my life, including shopping in general. I won't buy any new cloth/item just because it's cute, it must be something that I really like. Mediocre stuffs, even it's cheap, I won't spend a penny on it. But when it comes to groceries... my weakness shows up. Can you guys believe that I spend about $300 per month just for myself???? yes, I know, that's insane!!! I buy most of veggies/fruits in WF or TJ's, you know that organic produce is expensive, but still, isn't it too much under a world economic crisis? When thousands of people are dying or suffering in get a meal... I'm spending fortune!!! I don't mind spending more to eat healthier, and throwing food is rare, so any tip to evaluate if I'm over-spending????
Sunday was great! I had the best vinyasa class ever!!! We were only 4 people, 2 of them was instructors. So, it was more like a private lesson to two advanced students. After a quick warm up we tried all kinds of inversions: head stand, hand stand, forearm stand and even scorpion!!! I've only mastered head stand and none of others were doable for me. But yesterday I did them all (although forearm and scorpion were facing the wall) and I felt muscles that I didn't even know they exist. Such a great class!!!
After that, I went to do groceries and in the afternoon I went to see blossom with my Argentinean friend. We walked about 1.5 hours and had a really nice chat. I enjoyed a lot.
Okay. Now to food which was good I think.
Breakfast: second bowl for oats. 1/2 c. oats, 1/2 c. almond milk, 1/2 banana, 1/4 c. pumpkin, 1 tbsp flaxmeal, vanilla, cinnamon and 1 tbsp Smooth Operator.
I enjoyed every bite, it was so sweet and creamy~~~ ^_^
Before I left for yoga I had a very chocolate cereal bar from Arg.
They hold me until 2.30pm.
Lunch: broccoli lasagna and a salad of veggies, olive oil and balsamic.

Dessert: oikos + blueberries + mixgranola.
Back home around 7.30pm I was starving. So before dinner I had a gigantic grapefruit!
Dinner: sauteed green with garlic, scrambled egg with tomatoes, mushrooms and broccoli and the very missed black rice porridge!

AMAZING!!!
Dessert: POM jelly!
Only one day left until my presentation. Monday's to do list:
- finish .ppt
- practice the presentation
- some leisure related activity!

Happy Birthday to Veggiegirl~~~ ^_^ She's like the little sister of everyone!

I spend tons on food too...I try to limit myself to less trips, and it helps. Produce at local markets is cheaper too!

I hear you on the groceries, which is why I'm trying my little experiment of spending only $25 a week. We'll see how it works out! :-)I think if you have the money to spend, it's ok to spend more on food. The thing is...I need to be saving money and not spending so much, so that's why I'm cutting back.

The broc lasagna looks so good! Thanks for the link to the recipe, too.

Have a great day! :-)

I am the same :) I rarely splurge on anything but groceries, but our grocery bills are so high!! I would guess at least $500 per month for the 2 of us, but more if you include eating out. But we like good food and I think that it's worth it.

Your vinyasa class sounds amazing.

ohhhhh i am SUCH a grocerholic too!! i find it much harder to control myself in a supermarket than in a shopping centre :D as long as you're not in danger of having to live on the streets, i say go for it ;)

the lasagna really appeals to me - i love broccoli! the yoga class sounds great, i hope i can be as good as that one day :)

Yeah, I could easily spend that much on food myself, too! We don't live close to a really good health foods store so that helps us save money in itself! (ha, I think it's a blessing in disguise because we wish we were closer but we know we'd spend more money!)

Broccoli lasagna?? Look SO good!

I'm definitely a grocery shopaholic. I love grocery shopping. I did have my food (grocery and eating out) budget set at $250/month, but I have always exceeded that. So this month I finally just went ahead and upped it to $300. And that's just for me. I think it's worth it to spend more for healthier foods.

Hiiii CoCo!! OMGosh good luck on the presentation!! That's so soon! You're going to ROCK IT, I'm sure. :)

As for $300 a month...I think that if you don't spend too much money on eating out, then $300 is reasonable, though I'm spending around $200 a month. I don't eat organic-only, so foods are cheaper! I also shop at the korean grocery store Hmart for fresh produce, which is MUCH cheaper than TJ's and any other grocery store. Make sure you clip coupons! Whole Foods has a coupon booklet that can help you save LOTS of money!! Like Oikos $1 off!

Also, you are SUCH an amazing yogi!! I can't imagine the headstand. I can't even go halfway up. hahaha

I love food and groceries too. I think my blog inflates my grocery bill even more. :) I'm glad you spend all that money, though, cause we get to see all your wonderful food! :)
