A lucky Superwoman! ^_^

As I mentioned yesterday I wanted to buy a sofa bed from IKEA because I needed it and it was on sale. None of my best friends could help me and I was disappointed not only because I'd miss this great deal but also it made me wonder if I am good friend to them. (Does anyone ever felt that? having doubt about yourself how your friends see you?) I almost gave up the idea of getting that sofa and spend the rest of the day feeling low. Then I saw a friend from school in msn and I asked him if he could help me without expecting him to say yes, since we're not so close, but he said YES! Wooo.... I was surprised but happy. Then we met in IKEA and there was a lot of people. I arrived 5 min earlier and went directly to look for the sofa. I saw a line waiting for the sofa and I said to myself: oh no!!! it's going to be sold out when I get there. Fortunately that didn't happen, but something worse than that. The man who's giving the sofa to the clients asked me about a coupon, what coupon? I said I didn't have it. He said: then, it's sold out! OH NO!!! How that could happened? Imagine my disappointment at that point. As I walked out to meet my friend, I felt terribly guilty of making him come to here for nothing. But he was nice and didn't blame me at all, instead he comforted me of not getting the sofa. And then, another great surprise came. A man he was leaving approached me and asked me if I need a coupon because he's leaving and he didn't need the coupon anymore! OH GOD!!! How playful you were!!! You can imagine the rest of the story.
My friend carried it with me to my apartment and left. (It would be too much to ask him to assemble it with me). Me with the huge box. I've bought a lot of furniture's from IKEA and haven't assembled a single of them (my friends did it for me)!!! I'm totally inexperienced with this but as I had no choice and no one to ask for help.... I was determined to face the challenge.
After step 1, I gained confidence.After 2 hours (only 2 hours!!!) I finished the assembling and the sofa-bed was ready. I'M A SUPERWOMAN! ^_^
Not only the assembling was demanding, but also the re-arrangement of the living room. I was exhausted by the end but really proud of myself. Look my living before and afterQuick recap of the food.
Breakfast was a big satisfying one
  • 1/3 cup flax porridge
  • 1/3 cup almond breeze chocolate
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 tbsp flax meal
  • 1 big spoon of PMAB
Mid morning when I was feeling low: 2 kabocha ricotta holesLunch came late at 2.30pm after I finished all the assembling: korean pickes, leftover sauteed soy sprouts, smoked salmon, half chopped tomatoes and black rice porridge (this time I added some chinese dates and goji berries)Dessert: 1/2 cup low fat Stonyfield plain yogurt + 1 cup frozen strawberries + teaI took a nap, did 45 min yoga and ready for dinner: sauteed jumbo shrimp with cucumber + sauteed chinese mustard greens + black rice porridgeDessert: dairy free chocolate pudding with ricotta. HEAVEN!!! Love this combo. Ricotta has a very unique texture to the pudding.

My internship in CBO begins today, I'm so excited about meeting new people and learn how a big organization works.

Question: Do you have doubts about how your friends see you? Do you consider yourself a good friend?

How great about the sofa- all of it! It looks great.

I definitely wonder those things about my friends.. especially when I realize I'm the only one trying to plan things for us to hang out.

you're so inspiring to me!!! Awww honey just because your friends couldn't make it to Ikea doesn't mean they don't love you enough!!! It just means something else came up for them that might be really important to them at the time! Don't worry about it AT ALL! I'm positive that it has nothing to do with you...But don't worry, I have those feelings too when a friend doesn't call me back even if she or he says they will!!

Your sofa is lovely and a great fit in the living room!!! I wish I could come visit you. :D I'd totally be a good friend and go it Ikea with you!! I LOVE IKEA!!!!!

Your meals are DELISH as usual! I love those kabocha holes!! They're gorgeous..now i have to learn how to get my hands on them!!!

Looks like you did a great job with your living room! Mixing pudding with ricotta sounds delicous. Don't feel bad about your friends not being able to help you. I think everyone has rough days like that but as long as your friends are there for you when it really counts, that's what is important. Plus, maybe you got to make another friend in the process.

I'm the Queen of paranoia so I know exactly how you feel. I often thing I've put my friends through too much and they've just given up on me.

I'm glad you got that sofa girl - it all worked out for the best!

I have a number of very close friends, who I know would always be there for me if I asked them. There are some friends who I am not so close with who I doubt would do some things if I asked... and that's ok with me, because I probably would be the same if they asked me! It takes a long time to make those kind of really close, sofa-picking up type friends. It could also be that your friends were all legitimately busy! In any event, if I was in DC, I would happily have gone to IKEA with you! Friends are funny things.. I guess you do need to nurture the relationship or it wont grow.

I've always had a lot of doubts about how my friends see me. Part of that is because I was betrayed by my best friend in junior high and it left a permanent sense of suspicion in me. And it's also because I'm not always the best friend - at least not in my opinion.
Love your sofa!

Love the sofa :)

I have doubts about my frinds too. I was part of a very catty, btichy, talking behind your back group of friends in middle and high school and I never really recovered from it. I always think that people don't really want to be my friend, or that they say things about me, or that they judge me, etc... I agree with Alison that it's also because I'm not always the best friend. Good question.
