First of all, a normal posting! I'm sorry that my posts were lamed lately with disorganized pics and not interesting talks. I will be honest with you, I thought about a long MIA because of the crazy schedule that I have now, blogging and commenting have caused me some minor stress, but that idea was exterminated right after it appeared. I can't abandon this blog and you lovely people! I need you guys, I need to belong to this amazing community. I might have some short MIA, but definitely can't hold it for long.
To give you an idea of what I mean by crazy schedule, I'll do a quick schedule recap for you!
5.45am alarm wake me up
6.15am - 7.15am gym/yoga/shower
7.15am - 7.45am prepare breakfast and pack for lunch & snack
7.45am - 8.00am make myself presentable for work
8am - 8.45am commute
9am - 5.30pm work
6.30pm - 7.30pm prepare dinner and put order my apt
7.30pm - 8pm dinner
8pm - 9.30pm talk with Star/blog related/errands
9.30 - 10pm reading and fall into sleep
Tight heh?
So many other things that I'd like to do with more time and without rush... but I guess that's how a working person's life is. That's why I appreciate weekends now, to do whatever I feel like and not checking the clock all the time.
One advantage of the tight schedule is that it made June's challenge easier, because I don't even have time to think about what to eat or do, just do it! Have you guys notice that what you eat at work isn't that delicious? or better said, you don't enjoy food as much as you do when you're at home relaxed. Well... that's what happens to me lately, whatever I pack for the day, I just eat it because I need fuel, not because I really crave eating.
And tips for packing lunch/snack that I've learned (from you guys):

And tips for packing lunch/snack that I've learned (from you guys):
- cook the night before together with dinner so I don't have to worry about what to eat the next morning.
- pack healthy snacks like yogurt, fruits, granola
- store healthy snacks at office just in case for some extra hunger. As I showed the other day, I have a bunch of cereal bars, powdered soy milk and powdered lotus in my office.
- you can bring whatever meal you want, even oats if you have appropriate appliance for it. I got these thermos containers which keep the food warm for 5 hours.
Okay. Recap of Friday. Woke up at 5.45am, went to the gym for 45min on Elliptical catching up with some magazine readings. Breakfast was another bowl of green oatbran. Can't get tired of it!! ^_^
For lunch/snack I packed: porridge/stir-fry brocoflower with black fungus, dry shrimps and salty duck eggs/leftover sauteed chinese broccoli/yogurt/blueberries/kamut flakes/granolaAnd my lunch bad had an huge expansion!Work was good. Oh... many of you asked me how I am doing with work.... I'm doing great! I am enjoying it a lot! That's why all the crazy schedule isn't bothering me much because I really like what I do there, which is basically research but with interaction with people (usually research is a lonely work) and I have a very funny/cute officemate! I think it's almost close to my Ideal Job!
Back home, less tired (my body is adjusting), dinner time. I made baked fish with a chinese fermented beans, soy sauce and sesame oil. Also had a stir-fry with broccoli, baby corns, mushrooms, chili and this sauce which is also spicy. And porridge as usual. It was a real delight!!! sooooo good everything!!!
Dessert: dairy free choco-pudding with frozen strawberries!!! That's a heaven combo!! ^___^
To-do list for this weekend:
- pay car ticket (I got a ticket a while ago and never remembered to pay it)
- yoga both days
- groceries (my favorite!)
- farmer market to get another $6 strawberries?
- baking!!!! (I need to launch my new mini baking molds!)
- meet with friends!! (they almost forgot about me!)
- watch Valkyrie (2008) (I've been having it for a week now)
- laundry/cleaning
- some long walk?
I think I could keep adding to the list, but I doubt I'll finish it!
Have everyone a fabulous weekend!! ^_^
Since I haven't been asking questions, can I do more than one today?
Question 1: What's your weekend plan? Question 2: Do you have friends from work? Question 3: What's the most exciting thing happened to you last week?

You definitely sound busy! I'm glad you are liking your job.
I usually pack leftovers for lunch. I like eating them for lunch. I get rid of them so I can make more exciting food for dinner and I think leftovers taste good. Packing lunch the night before is definitely a good idea. I always did this when I left the house at 5:30 AM. Now I don't leave until 9:45 AM so I have time to pack in the morning.
Glad you are enjoying your job, despite the busy schedule! I actually prefer to be super busy. Working also helps control mindless snacking because if I haven't packed it, I can't eat it!
I have friends at work, but I also like to have a balance of friends outside of work!
I always found that when I was working I would use snack/lunch as ways to break up the day, and things to look forward to. This was because I really didn't enjoy my work though, so food was something I could enjoy. *NOT* a good habit to get into.
I'm glad you are adjusting well!
My weekend plans - today we went to a flea market to walk around and tomorrow we're going to an art & wine festival. I want to do something else today; I'm bored!
Your schedule is really jammed! Mine looks similar except my gym time is at the end of the day and I often get home even later. There are not enough hours in the day :-)
Great looking meals! It's great you take time to prepare your lunch. I like to do that too because as you pointed out, lunch you can purchase at work is not even close to being as good.
I just spent the afternoon carpet cleaning. The carpets looks fabulous!! Tonight I plan on relaxing and cooking and perhaps baking.
Tomorrow I'd like to go for a long run.
I hope you have a great weekend!!
That's a huge lunch bag!!
We used to share lunch at work-and it was always a treat!!
I completely agree with you that food just isn't as good when you are at work, or not relaxed in your own home. Those were some great snack/lunch tips, just like an RD would say! This weekend I am planning on doing some thesis writing and relaxing with Nick. We both had crazy long weeks and are exhausted, so just sitting around, watching some movies, and maybe playing some Skip-bo (a card game) sounds like a good plan to me :)
I love trying to find new ideas for lunches to take to work.
This weekend I'm celebrating my Birthday, so I'll be spending my time opening presents and with my family.
I have a few friends at work and outside of work.
That is a crazy schedule but I'm glad to hear that it's working out for you!
I do as much the night before as I can to save time in the morning. That way I'm not rushing around like a maniac!
hey there! missed you!
gosh...that definitely IS a tight schedule! I don't blame you one bit for being MIA for awhile...though I'm glad you're back!
I'm not working right now, though when I was working as a waitress, I LOVED my job because of all the fun, crazy people there...and the rude, swearing cooks! so much fun!
I am so glad that you are able to enjoy your weekends now!
My weekend: I ran my first 5k yesterday and today is for working out, running errands and getting ready for the week.
I think packing lunch during dinner just takes the stress out. I am a mess in the morning so this technique really works for me! Your dinner looks so good!
I am just relaxing this weekend since I had been away on a conference at Philly. It was awesome!!
hey busy girl! glad you had a chance to catch up! sounds like you are working the schedule out nicely. that is good :) i always type "xoxo" various places throughout the internet and sometimes i accidentally type "coco" and now when that happens i think of you! haha :D
That is great you are enjoying the work and life, It is much better to schedule the dailiy life and follow the schedule specially when you are busy.
Yayy I’m so glad to see that you’re enjoying work! It’s hard to love what you do, because…I definitely don’t think I’m doing what I love. Although I have “friends” that I made at work, we don’t see each other after work or on weekends. It actually very sad…if I didn’t have friends from college that also live in the same city, I would be really lonely! I always eat lunch alone or at my desk, which I don’t enjoy. I agree with you that lunch is more bland and boring and you’re just trying to eat quickly so you’re not hungry later, however I found that if I tak emy lunch and eat it outside or at Whole Foods, the change of environment makes my meal taste better because I don’t feel the pressue to eat so fast!!
The most exciting thing that happened to me last week was that I finally finished my first round of applications for grad school!!! I was sooo stressed about them I couldn’t sleep for a whole week! But it’s done, and I’m really excited and happy! Hahahah Now I have to wait for round 2! Hope you had a fantastic weekend CoCo!!
that is definitely a busy day, but at least you sound like it's something you can handle!
I totally hear you! There are weeks where I think about ending my blogging...but I miss it too much ;) Your dessert of choco-pudding with frozen strawberries looks so delicious! I need to try this combo
Busy Busy! I think if we didn't have to sleep everything would get done, right? I know what you mean about the weekend, it is sooo nice, but I hate how it flies by so fast. Thanks for your comment on my blog :) and I hope you got all your tasks accomplished, have a good week getting closer to the weekend!
