Comfort food everyday and product review!~

My idea of comfort food: satisfying, yummy, simple, pretty and most of all, healthy! yeah~~~ maybe some people relates comfort food with tons of cheese or creams. Perhaps psychologically comfort food means something that you don't usually allow you to have. But that's not my concept of comforting food. First I don't like these food, my palate prefers simple and mild taste; second, how can a comfort food makes you feel sick afterward? I feel really sick if I devour big amount of fat and salt, really discomforting.
These last two days I've been rewarding myself with these simple, yummy food (that I think can all be qualified by HealthyYum.com)
Green oats made with spinach, cauliflower and topped with smoked salmon. It's a perfect dinner meal~~~

I think many of you would agree that KABOCHA can be qualified as comfort food, so I've been having them as dessert AGAIN!!! yeah~~~ I missed it!
Another comforting meal: sauteed Chinese mustard, lotus with mushrooms and more oat bran with celery!
I blended celery with cooked oat bran and sit for 5 min
it's really really yummy~~~ perfect light flavored oat with tons of fibers!
Comforting breakfast combo: green oats, raspberries and ABU! There's nothing prettier than this, right Polly?
Next, I have 2 things to review today. First, the AMAZING GRASS!!! Yeah~~ I'm jumping to the AG wagon too!!! These AMAZING people sent me these samples
So far I've only tried I made a GM with 1 cup frozen blueberries to make it more berry-like, big handful of steamed spinach and this Berry Flavor Drink Powder!
Look the color
that was a perfect combo for breakfast! Yummy, nutritious and pretty! (the pic doesn't make justice here, it looks so dark, but actually it's dark purple color, really beautiful!)
The taste? mmm..... I barely noticed its flavor, maybe because I added too much berries. But at least I can assure you that no grass-taste! And thinking about all the benefits it has...I immediately felt more energetic and beautified! ^_^

New sport MUST have:

I've been swimming more often lately and my co-worker just found this Waterproof headphone System from h20 audio that allow you to use your ipod shuffle to listen to music when you're under water. Oh man... this must be one of the best purchases I've made this year! I can't describe how great it works and how amazing is to have music when you swim. I used it for the first time yesterday, again today and now I want to swim everyday!!! ^_^

Question: What's your concept of comfort food? And what's the best purchase you've made this year?

Great post, Coco. I love all your variations with oat bran!

I'm liking the Amazing Grass, too. I've actually got more on order!

Comfort food to me is usually food that reminds me of my childhood. My mom use to make me soft boiled eggs when I wasn't feeling well and I still eat them to this day when I'm under the weather. Tomato salad with parsley, oil & vinegar reminds me of hot summer nights as a kid. I guess it's all about the memories!

My concept of comfort food is... something that makes me feel fuzzy inside. Lol that sounds cheesy but, for real, it's whatever will put me at ease and make me relive something wonderful :)

I agree with your idea of comfort food. I don't like eating food that makes me feel sick later, although the occasional treat is ok with me. :-)

Comfort food for me is warm and plain, like oat bran. It feels like a big hug.

I want to try the Amazing Grass! I've seen it all over blogs. Maybe they'll send me some :) Otherwise I'll just have to buy it, lol.

it is kind of comforting to ME to check out your blog and see the usual eats and dishes and whatnot, is that weird? haha.

My comfort foods depend on the time of year. In the summer I want smoothies made from fresh berries and soy milk. In the winter I want roasted root veggies or soups.

Kabocha is most definitely a super comfort food. The best of the best!

Music while swimming would be awesome. I should invest in some underwater headphones... and then maybe consider taking up swimming haha.

As for comfort food, anything that makes me feel warm and cozy. Grilled sandwiches and roasted veggies... mmm comfort.

Smokes salmon oats...yum!

You can also buy a waterproof cover for your iPod. If I swam more, I'd get that.

I love that all your comfort food is so healthy!! For me, comfort food is something I've been eating my whole life, something I can cuddle up with, and something that makes my belly feel good :) Things like egg sandwiches, oatmeal, chili and yogurt.

I should look into getting those earphones, sometimes swimming laps can be pretty dull!
