By choosing not to make a big deal of the way you feel and by acting excited with your friend, you are making the right choices. :-)I definitely don't think you are a "bad" person. I might have to give them a try.

In terms of the first part of your post - I wouldn't worry too much about it. I always get a little jealous of my friends! They are all very successful, smart and wonderful law student! And they achieve lots of great things (prizes in various subjects, acceptance to fancy uni's for postgrad studies, really prestigious jobs etc). I still love them, and I would never wish that they weren't able to achieve their successes... It's just a natural reaction I generally feel at first (and most of the time it goes away).

I think it comes down to your personality, really. If you're a perfectionist and try hard to achieve things in life, I think you are more likely to feel like this. It doesn't make you are a bad person. It just means you expect a lot from yourself and are a high-achiever. I agree with Manda - if it manifests into action, then maybe it is a problem. But it doesn't sound like that at all with you. Stop being so hard on yourself! You're a great girl :-) I bet this friend of yours can't whip up a breakfast that looks nearly as delectable as yours!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3738759126756755619.post-15264641466347144782009-04-30T08:35:00.000-04:002009-04-30T08:35:00.000-04:00Funny, I was almost going to have quinoa for break...Funny, I was almost going to have quinoa for breakfast today too! In the end my lack of time to go buy it won out.

As for jealousy towards a friend: of course, we all do. As long as you're happy mixed in with jealousy, and you don't let it show, I think its fine. It's really only bad if it manifests itself in your behaviour in any way: both because you'll be ruining your friends moment, and because then you're letting that negative feeling become a negative action!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
